Orgasmophone!
Seriously. The new phone is that awesome. I cant even handle it. I want to explode in a waterfall of words in a post of all posts honoring its super duperality.
But instead, Im gonna sum it up with ...
Giggety Giggety. Allright!
Here is some electronicky type stuff that I want. In no particular order.
I think a 9x12 would work. Although Im not sure. With all the extra plastic on the edge, might as well get a 12x19 and have less wasted space. Have wanted to mess with a tablet for years and years and years.
Sony TV for Living Room and Sony TV for Bedroom
and
Dont really need either. I get by on my ghetto TV setup. A stupid tube in the living room. And then hauling my 20" monitor from my compy to my bedroom to watch movies. But both of these would be nice some day.
Im not sure that I want the d80 definitely. Something in that class of digital cameras though. I already have a point and shoot. But I would like to kick up the photographic possibilities a notch.
A Digital Piano / Midi Controller
Sure, the CP300 is a much better setup. And the p70 is about as bare bones as you can get. But I dont really know how to play piano. So I dont think I could personally justify the $2k price tag on the 300. But the $600 tag on the 30 is much more reasonable.
Be nice to have the midi control so that I can experiment with a lot of extra instrumentation.
Ya. So thats about $5k worth of stuff right there. Heh. However, I think it would all last me a very long time. But ... Im probably just gonna have to wait to start buying any of this stuff. For a little bit at least. But I have already been waiting so long. Its not that big of a deal anymore.
Dear Verizon -
Yo holmes ... you ever planning on releasing the Samsung i760?
My contract is about to expire, and I am looking to upgrade to a Super Cool Phone. That phone was supposed to be released in Q1 of this year. So whats the deal?
In the meantime, I am browsing around. And I tell you ... the ATT Tilt (also shown here) is looking mighty appetizing to my mind. I think you might have some competition in the mix.
So please, just hurry up and release your phones man. Dont make me be stuck with ATT/Cingular/ATT/ATTCingular/TheNewATT/WhateverTheFuckTheyAreCalledNow for another two years.
It would be mighty human of you.
Thanks.
The End.
-Me
Because of the move, I get a free day off today.
And, I also brought home my main monitor from work. Its one of those Sony 23" Widescreens. Native resolution of 1900x1200, if I am not mistaken (I know that is what I run it at).
Anyway, now that I have seen this for my home experience, I remember why I never brought it home before.
Its really damn hard to go back.
Having extra screen real estate is definitely underrated. There are many times where even just a few inches on the side can make all the difference in the world (perfect example is in using Outlook 2007). And the widescreen aspect ratio is especially good when you arent downsizing the height just to get the wide screen.
Not to mention, I have always thought that Sony makes damned good monitors.(even when there were only CRTs - Sony had better picture, with the exception of the two pixel rows that trademarked their Trinitron technology).
(sigh) I am not looking forward to switching back to my Dell 20".
meh.
While messing around on the turntables, I noticed that I was not getting the response I wanted for a particular scratch. The deck was really slow on the uptake. And even though I was being very light-handed, the platter would slow down quickly. This got rapidly frustrating.
So after some a thinking, soul-searching, excursion into myself (and some prodding from a co-worker) ... I finally decided what to do.
I promptly returned my turntables.
This is something that many people do after the first week. Turntablism not as easy as it looks. I could write an essay about the differences between learning the turntable and other instruments. So it is understandable to most stores. They actually expect it.
HOWEVER! I am not that kind of person. I know what I love, and I know what it means to get lost in something. And with everything I took in over the last week ... I just knew I had to.
And so I bought a nice set of turntables and a mixer.
.
I got 2 Technics SL1200MK2's. Each of them is about as expensive as my previous setup was. You can tell the difference in quality ... even if you do nothing more than move the box.
To mix between them, I got a Denon DN-X100. A nice entry level mixer with variable cross-fade. It was about half as expensive as my previous set was. It took me a while to understand what was going on with the mixer - the manual was not very helpful.
But the variable cross-fading and the super slippery action make it a much appreciated step up.
Once I finally got everything home, set it up, and kinda learned the basics of the new mixer ... I began to mess around. It was instantly apparent that this was a real setup. The response time was excellent. The craftmanship superb. Everything is just infinitely better - way better than the 3x price tag would imply.
[This made me happy]
After much fussing around with dumb kid on Craiglist ... I finally decided to just say eff it and go buy some turntables from the Platinum Records.
I have wanted to learn dj-ing since, well ... forever. And I knew that it has been one of those things that I will just put off again and again, if I didnt get them now. While I was really excited about it. So I did.
Knowing nothing about how to use them, and not having any DJ friends ... I decided to go with the entry level Direct Drive package. Just to see how I would like the art of turntablism.
We shall see.
Today, a co-worker convinced me to buy a Zune. Well, not so much convinced, proactively. Basically, he just said - I'm going to get one ... wouldnt it be cool if we checked out the wifi together? You want in?
Yes. Im simple and impulsive. I like inclusion. And new toys, related to music.
We busted out to Car Toys, the closest retailer with them in stock. Yes, we dismissed our employee discount, because we didnt want to wait to save a measly 25 bucks. Whatever.
We both got black Zunes. We got them back to the office and began messing around with them. It was a nice little bonding session. Cool, yo.
After we started throwing some songs on them, we decided to check out transfer times. Nicely fast. Then, I got a little playful - and ran at a chair, sliding across the lab to about 25 feet away. "Dude! Go Long!" I sent him a file from downtown. And it still worked. That is sweet.
I also configured my online account (with the free 14 day trial pass). I tried jayd as a username, but apparently it was taken. Instead of giving me the standard : jayd1 jayd12 or 12jayd type of suggestions, Zune came up with the following:
- Wieldable Jayd
- Parallel
- Sailed
- Hungry Germ
- Stretch Fugur
How wierd!!! Of course, it was mandatory that I take Stretch Fugur. Cause that is a ridiculous suggestion.
Oh - and the Zune is officially named Chompsky. And yes, that is a cross between biting and a famous language theorist.
