Happy Voxiversary!
Today is my One Year Voxiversary!
Yes, that means you have had to deal with yours truly for a whole year. Postin and ramblin away at this and that. Big things. Small things. Personal things. Open things. Just whatever comes to my mind.
I have defintely enjoyed the switch over to Vox. One of the best things about it is definitely the people. From the very start, Vox has felt like more of an open minded community, where people genuinely want to get to know new people. I definitely appreciate that. And its probably why I stay.
A lot has gone on in the last year. Lets look at some highlights and little known facts to celebrate:
First, the connectedness ...
Total number of posts in last year: 435
Average number of hits per month: 3000
Average number of unique visitors per month: 1800
Most number of hits in one day: 198
Approximate states that have viewed my blog: 30
Approximate countries that have viewed my blog: 50
Yes, I find stat tracking to be utterly fascinating. I do nothing more than just glimpse at some numbers and such. Its fun. I have always been into odd statistics (but not the actual science of Statistics. icko!)
Second, the neighbors...
The first person I did not know who became my mutual neighbor: Jen
The first person I did not know, who became my mutual neighbor, and still comments a lot: Narami
The first person I did not know, who meant a lot to me (and I miss dearly): Kiss Me Cate (my e-sis)
The first person I did not know, and developed an e-crush on: (pfft! ya right)
I could talk about my neighbors all night. All of you should know why I like you. And if not, well jeez ... just ask. Im not afraid to celebrate you! You make it all worth it.
Third, the favorites ...
My favorite post of the last year: Paint It Jossy
My most popular post of the last year: Ladies Pro Tip: Celebrate Your Youness (even made a [TIG]!)
My favorite Audio Post of the last year: Dream Date: The Playlist
My favorite Art Post of the last year: Juxtapose, I <3 U
My favorite The Weird Post of last year: Good Karma Gives Good Timing
My favorite Audio Track I have posted in the last year:
My favorite video I have posted in the last year:
My favorite Art I have posted in the last year:
My favorite Art I have made and posted in the last year:
My favorite book I have read and posted in the last year:
My favorite pic of me taken in the last year:
And there are countless more favorites. I just cant think of enough categories. And cause ... well Im really bad doing the whole favorite thing. Not my schtick.
Although ... there is a whole section of favorites that I am leaving off completely. Mostly because I post about that all the time. You know *exactly* what I am talking about.
I could go on to cover some other stuff. Like bad stuff. Sad stuff. Effed up stuff. Tiring stuff. But lets not, okay? There is more than enough happy to go around right now, this past year. Lets keep it positive.
And on that I bid you a huge
Thanks!
To Vox. To Neighbors. To Silent Readers. To Everyone!
May the next 365 bring more living and sharing. And goodness. And silliness. And just plain fun.

I've been here longer than youuuu.. na na na na na nahhh :P
Great post Jay - (I miss Kiss Me Cate too) :(
I also missed my anniversary as I was poorly... but I reckon I should do a post like this one day :)
You track your blog's visiting stats?!
That's it, I'm using a proxy!
Creepy.
Happy One Vox Year! I forget when I started. But I remember my first mutual friend. That's kind of sweet that you do. I felt a bit funny when I joined like walking into a party where I didn't know anyone. That quickly changed, though!
Vox is better for your presence here, Jay. :)
HAPPY VOXIVERSARY!

YOU'RE THE BEST...AROUND...NOTHINGS EVER GONNA KEEP YOU DOWN...[repeat ad finitem]
Thanks Jode.
Ya. KMC was the bestest neighbor ever. Its too bad she is really busy. But hopefully, its all good :)
Capri -
You would be surprised how many people actually do track their stats! Its more than you would think. So if you are gonna be all paranoid, your really should get on that IP Blocker.
Personally, I wish it would allow access to IPs. I never look at them, but Im not that unsavory. Someone out there probably is going to use this information in a not nice way. Someday.
I actually find it more creepy that you would feel the need to use an IP Blocker. To me its kinda like sitting in the bushes by my house diguised, watching me walk around and do stuff.
Im not gonna hold it against you though. :)
Thanks. That was a fantabulous compliment!
*blushes*
I can always count on you for the weird and random. (and latin?)
Thanks! ;P
Hey silent one ... thanks for poppin by!
Heh. Just kidding, I know you are really busy right now :) I hope that kinda clears up for you soon.
Thanks.
And [ting] you are up wayyyy too early. :(
Hahaha.Got 'ya!
I've tracked stats--and IP addy's since Oct 2003 on my TypePad blog. ;)
It's a paid blog now but it wasn't until July '07. For a long time I was obsessed with tracking the comings and going of folks--'cos there were thousands of them. Wonder if my tasteful nude photos had anything to do with that? lol .
Seriously, post headings with double entendres can bring 'em in as I'm sure you know, and boobies always amp up the numbers.
Then again one can always opt to post great content. In the end, once my family objected to my photography, I shut things down and ignored the stats, knowing they'd plummet. Now it's paid I watch 'em again. :p Not as fun now. :(
Way more to blogging than a non-blogger might realize.
Cheers!
You are in trouble. ;P
I cant post boobies. Cause well ... Im not a woman. So I just have to go with content. But honestly, Im not trying to post too much to generate traffic. Im posting more as a relief for me.
I just find it intriguing as to what other people are looking at that I have to say. The human condition and all its subtleties have always fascinated me though. (There was a time when I lost my mind and was considering a triple degree ... in Comp Sci, Architecture and Psychology).
i guess this makes the countries 51 now! ;)
it's a good ( but weird ) thing that you keep track of your stats.. haha! i barely can remember 3 or 4 birthdays.. and i suck in memorizing numbers, which i do need sometimes when talkin about soccer.. !
The human condition and all its subtleties have always fascinated me though.
I know exactly where you are coming from here. :)
Humans are endlessly facinating--other stuff is, too. Not enough time in the day to squeeze it all in but we try. ;)
I track my stats too, but often forget to go see them! I have already worked out *several* people though, and find it hilarious that people say "oh I have only just seen your vox, when I know 99% that they had seen it before, because there IP stat kinda gave it away.... lol!
I find it more worrying the sheer amount of people from the middle east in "troubled" countries that frequent my vox though... hmmm
Oh, I just have a script that takes care of it. It is supplied free via a website. Im not actually doing any work per se ... just lookin at stuff on occasion.
Your country would make 51! Coolness. And I have actually heard of your country! ;)
Thanks for poppin by and commenting.
I also like to make up stories as I people watch. Its like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Live. Cept cooler.
Occasionally, I can convince someone who is participating to actually approach the stranger and validate (or not) the story. Which is *always* boatloads of fun!
You do much more with it than I do.
Although I do occasionally like to just mess around with the map. Cuz its fun. But, mostly just to see where generic people are from -- its very me-centric. I dont want to try and tuple people to locations if I dont already know. Thats weird.
However, I do sometimes get curious. Like ... who is that person from Isle of Man? I didnt even know that was a place!!! Lookit it! Its so small and off on its ownsome in the water. Why (and how) would someone from there be on my blog?!
Sometimes, I do see a stranger country. And then I imagine that there is some crazy person, who can barely read english ... sitting in a dusty coffeeshop while bombs are exploding in the distance. People are screaming outside and fleeing. And they are just sippin their joe, readin my Vox, occasionally chuckling ... as if this were just another normal day for them.
Wow, you must keep the lovely Elyse on her toes!
(My first thought was you must be fun to hang with. Then I thought of someone who does.) :-)
I agree. People watching is almost endlessly facinating. I have the degree to prove I have a least a passing interest, lol, though like you, I was all over the map in majors.
Rather sweep her off her feet, but hey. I will take what I can get, I guess.
I think Im pretty much only as fun to hang with as you are willing to go along with whatever it is that I am trying to do. Somewhat universal-ish, but its kinda different with me. Unless you are a "generator", then Im pretty much willing to participate in your fun and maybe add a little of my own branding.
People watching is definitely fun. I also like people experimenting too. Like asking them really goofy questions. Or just making random faces to see what they will do. Or trying to have a non-verbal conversation with some stranger across the room.
I didnt get too far into psychology. Maybe a few classes. But they were definitely interesting. However, I do wish the field would move more towards the studdy of happiness and good behavior. It has a huge manual for all the "bad" disorders ... where is all the good stuff at anyway?

I call loaded question!
I dropped psychology the first time 'round because it was so "heavy." I was 17 y.o. in my first yr of uni and I just could not wrap my head around the pathology of it all!
I agree with you Jay, I'd much rather find out what makes happy people tick, You know those kind of people that have sh*t thrown at them and they still keep a good head about them? I have studied "resiliency" in children and I loved learning about it!
Yes, the Manual you refer to the DSM, is filled with pathology. Most people when first looking through it find all kinds of mental illness in their friends and families--and worse, themselves!
It's complicated as to why the focus seems negative but a short answer is that people rarely need to see a counselour because things in their life are going great. The go because there are problems and for the counselor or therapist or psychiatrist to get an insurance reimbursment there must be a mental illness chosen. "Depression" is a good catch-all when one just wants to get on with it and do the work instead of being a slave to the insurance companies. I'm ranting. I'll stop now. ;)
